Lake Assessment Program - Maple Leaf Lake, St. Louis County

Maple Leaf Lake is located five miles northwest of the City of Alborn, in St. Louis County. The surface area of Maple Leaf Lake is approximately 90 acres, with a maximum depth of 51 feet see table 4. The Maple Leaf Lake Association applied for lake monitoring assistance from St. Louis County in the spring of 1994. The data that was collected indicated the need for further study, and in 1995, they were accepted into the Lake Assessment Program {LAP) through Minnesota Pollution Control Agency {MPCA). The St. Louis County Lake Monitoring Program and MPCA (LAP) was designed to assist lake associations in the collection and assessment of baseline water quality data in order to determine the current trophic status of their lake (tables 1, 2 & 3).
