Lake Assessment Program - Fish Lake and Wild Rice Lake, St Louis County

Document
Description
A cooperative study of Fish and Vild Rice Reservoirs was undertaken over the summer of 1990 by Minnesota Power, the Flowage Lakes Association and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The purpose of this effort was to obtain better information necessary for reservoir management. Sampling efforts were conducted by the staff of Minnesota Power and the Flowage Lakes Association. Lake histories were compiled by the Flowage Lake Association and the lake sampling data was assessed by MPCA staff with assistance from Tim Hagley. Wild Rice and Fish Reservoirs are located approximately 10 miles northwest of Duluth, Minnesota in the Northern Lakes and Forests ecoregion. These are relatively large, shallow lakes with surface areas greater than 99 percent of the state's lakes. These reservoirs maintain excellent fisheries.
