Lake Assessment Program - Indian Lake, Wright County

Document
Description
Indian Lake is located near Annandale, Minnesota. Yith a surface area of about 135 acres it is in the upper 20 percent of lakes in the State in terms of size (MDNR, 1968). Indian Lake was sampled during the summers of 1986, 1987, and 1988 by MPCA staff along with citizens from the Indian Lake Association as part of the Lake Assessment Program. Water quality data collected during this effort revealed about average total phosphorus concentrations (59 ug/1). Compared to other lakes in the North Central Hardwood Forests ecoregion, this concentration would rank at about the fiftieth percentile, which means that about SO percent of the lakes in this region exhibit lower total phosphorus concentrations. The maximum chlorophyll concentration for the summer was 61 ug/1 with a mean of 53 ug/1, Secchi disk transparency (mean= 1.1 m, 3.6 feet) was better than expected and chlorophyll concentrations were lower than expected relative to the total phosphorus concentrations.
