Lake Assessment Program 2003 - Moose Lake Area Lakes: Sand, Moosehead, Sturgeon, and Island, Carlton and Pine Counties

During the summer of 2003 the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) monitored four lakes located near the City of Moose Lake in northern Pine and southern Carlton Counties, as a part of our Lake Assessment Program (LAP). Two of the lakes, Island and Sturgeon were previously assessed by the MPCA in 1992. The remaining two lakes, Moosehead and Sand have not been previously assessed and will be the primary focus of this report. However data from all four lakes will be included in this report and comparisons among the lakes will be made. When possible, as is the case for Island and Sturgeon Lakes, comparisons will be made with previous data in order to assess any trends over time. Some portions of the 1992 report will be included in this report as deemed appropriate.
