Description
The Minnesota Water-Use Data System stores data on the quantity of water withdrawals from ground-water and surface-water sources and discharge quantities reported annually for sites in Minnesota. To transfer these data into the U.S. Geological Survey's National Water-Use Data System properly, certain procedures must be followed. Uniform data categorization and entry allows comparison of water use from State to State. The data in the National Water-Use Data System are aggregated by county and by watershed (hydrologic unit). This report documents the data aggregation and transfer process as developed by the Minnesota Departent of Natural Resources, the Minnesota State Planning Agency/Pic-nning Information Center, and the U.S. Geological Survey as part of the National Water-Use Information Program.
