Lake Assessment Program 1987 Minnie Belle Lake

Document
Description
Minnie Belle Lake is located in central Minnesota in southern Meeker County. The water quality during the 1987 summer survey period was good. The average total phosphorus concentration was 0.029 mg/1 and the average Secchi disk transparency measurement was 12.0 feet. Minnie Belle Lake would be considered mesotrophic based on Secchi disk and chlorophyll, and eutrophic based on total phosphorus measurements. Relative to a sample of app. 1,100 Minnesota 1akes, Minnie Belle Lake would rank at the 55th percentile based on its phosphorus concentration, i.e., 45 percent of the lakes had a lower concentration. The maximum chlorophyll concentration for the summer period was 4.2 ug/1 with a mean of 2.6 ug/1. Secchi disk transparency was better than expected and chlorophyll concentrations were lower than expected relative to the total phosphorus concentrations.
