Lake Assessment Program 1985 - Lake Ripley

Document
Description
Lake Ripley was sampled by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) during the summer of 1985 as a part of the Lake Assessment Program (LAP). This pilot program was designed to assist lake associations or local units of government in the collection of baseline lake water quality data for the purpose of assessing the current trophic status of their lakes. Lake Ripley exhibited a high phosphorus concentration during the summer of 1985, averaging 0.049 mg/l. Relative to a sample of 1,028 Minnesota lakes, this concentration would rank at the 30th percentile: in other words, 70 percent of the lakes exhibited lower total phosphorus of algae throughout most of the summer. Lake Ripley would be classified as eutrophic based on these observations.
