Dark Lake 04-0167-00 Lake Water Quality

Dark Lake is located 15.3 miles west of Blackduck, MN in Beltrami County. It is a round lake covering 75.5 acres (Table 1). Dark Lake has one inlet and one outlet, which classify it as a drainage lake. Water enters Dark Lake from Hay Creek in the southwest. Hay Creek exits the lake on the north side of Dark Lake and flows into Lower Red Lake. Water quality data have been collected on Dark Lake from 1998-2015 (Tables 2 & 3). These data show that the lake is oligotrophic (TSI = 35) with very clear water conditions most of the summer and excellent recreational opportunities. There is currently no organized lake association for Dark Lake.
