Deer Lake 04-0230-00 Lake Water Quality

Deer Lake is located 15.9 miles northwest of Bemidji, MN in Beltrami County. It is a round lake covering 262 acres (Table 1). Deer Lake has one inlet and one outlet, which classify it as a drainage lake. Water enters Deer Lake from Lake Erick in the west. Water exits the lake on the north side of Deer Lake and carries water to the Turtle River. Water quality data have been collected on Deer Lake from 1990-2015 (Tables 2 & 3). These data show that the lake is mesotrophic (TSI = 44) with moderately clear water conditions most of the summer and excellent recreational opportunities. Deer Lake has an organized association that is involved in activities such as water quality monitoring and education.
