Dunning Lake 31-0221-00 Lake Water Quality

Dunning Lake is located 3.4 miles northeast of Taconite, MN in Itasca County. It is a round lake covering 67 acres (Table 1). Dunning Lake has no inlets or outlets, which classify it as a groundwater seepage lake. Because it is groundwater fed, Dunning Lake can be affected by varying water levels from year to year. Water quality data have been collected on Dunning Lake from 1989-2015 (Tables 2 & 3). These data show that the lake is oligotrophic/mesotrohpic (TSI = 35) with clear water conditions most of the summer. Dunning Lake has no organized association at this time.
