Cannon River Watershed HSPF Model Development Project

Document
Description
The goal of the project was to construct, calibrate, and validate an HSPF watershed model for the Cannon River watershed. The calibration and validation for the models developed under the One Water Program are conducted for a 15-year period spanning 1995-2009. The Cannon River watershed HSPF model calibration and validation period was extended through 2012 (18-years total) so that the model captured recent reductions in phosphorus loads discharged from the three major waste water treatment plants (WWTPs) in the watershed. LimnoTech has produced an HSPF watershed model that can readily be used to provide information to support conventional and nutrient parameter TMDLs. The model generates predicted output time series for hydrology, sediment, water temperature, nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO), phytoplankton and benthic algae that are consistent with available observed datasets.
