Document
Description
The North Fork Crow (NFC) River watershed is located in the Upper Mississippi River Basin and covers eight counties, which include Wright, Meeker, Kandiyohi, Stearns, Pope, Hennepin, McLeod, and Carver. The watershed is approximately 1,485 square miles, or 950,000 acres and is predominantly in the North Central Hardwood Forests ecoregion with a very small portion crossing into the Western Corn Belt Plains ecoregion. As the main stem of the NFC River passes through the central and eastern regions of the watershed, land use is dominated by crop and pasture land. There are 31 municipalities located completely or partially within the boundaries of the NFC Watershed (Figure 1). The NFC flows from its western headwaters to its confluence with the South Fork Crow near Rockford, Minnesota, after which it joins the Mississippi near Dayton, Minnesota.
